Method 1: Change the protocol 

  • The first step is to cancel in the pop up menu.

  • After that, tap on the protocol drop down menu.

  • Choose the HP jetdirect- socket option.

  • Thereafter, tap on “add” at the bottom given on the right corner of the screen. 


Method 2: Restart the Printer and Mac 

  • Restart your Mac device.

  • After that, you need to turn off and then turn on the printer.

  • Next, add the printer to the Mac device. 


Method 3: Restart the Mac in Safe Mode

  • The first step is to shut down the Mac through the Apple menu and then shut down your system.

  • Press the power button to turn on the Mac device.

  • Once you press the power button, you need to hold the shift key until the login window will display on the screen. 

  • When you hold the shift key then you will see that the Apple logo will display on the screen. 

  • Note: When you see the Apple logo then do not leave the shift key. 

  • Keep holding the Apple logo until you will see the login screen.

  • Next, you need to press the login button twice if the Mac is encrypted.

  • Choose the user account and then enter the password. 

  • Tap on the Apple icon displayed on the top left corner of the screen. Select “restart button under the Apple menu. 

  • Again, click on the restart button for confirmation.

  • Wait for some time until the Mac restarts. You need to add the printer. 


Method 4: Use Mac with Apple Silicon

  • Shut down your Mac device and after that you need to wait for some time.

  • Press and hold the power button until the startup option window displays on the screen. You will see the available startup disk. 

  • Choose the startup disk.

  • Hold down the shift key and click on the continue button to proceed further. 

  • Tap on the “continue in safe mode”. Release the shift key. You need to wait for some time until the Mac restarts.

  • Restart your Mac through the Apple menu by clicking on the restart button.
